Equine-Assisted Learning and Life Skills Programs
Why Horses?
Connecting with a horse offers a unique chance for self-discovery and overall well-being. This experience transcends the ordinary, helping to balance our lives while teaching essential skills such as critical thinking, effective communication, and social interaction. Our program engages participants on physical, emotional, and mental levels.

What We Do.
Our Equine-Assisted Learning Programs are set up in a group format that offers immersive educational experiences that foster meaningful interactions between horses and humans in a supportive environment. Designed to foster personal growth, these programs help develop life skills and academic skills through a tailored curriculum. Participants engage in hands-on activities with horses on the ground, promoting connection in a safe and encouraging atmosphere.

* These programs have been designed for school-age children ages 5-18 and are grouped by school level. No prior horse experience needed.
These groups run in either a 4-week, 6-week or a 12-week program cycle.
Individual Growth and Learning
Individual growth and learning programs help both children and adults navigate life events and thrive in challenging times, offering tailored support. These programs focus on the unique emotional needs of each participant, providing coping strategies, skill development, and a safe space for expression by fostering resilience and adaptability in a non-judgmental environment with horses. Participants can move forward and better manage their experiences, building a strong foundation for future growth. Ultimately, these programs aim to empower participants to embark on their journey with confidence and strength, alongside others.

* No prior horse experience needed.
This program runs in either a 3-week, 6-week ,or 12-week program cycle.
Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy
Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is an experiential method that allows clients to engage in inner exploration and healing, fostering self-discovery and meaningful connections. By leveraging the bond between the client and the horse, EAP serves as a mirror for the client's experiences, promoting transformation. Horses, as intuitive beings, reflect the client's emotions and serve as a gateway to deeper self-awareness.

This program is facilitated with an Eagala-Certified mental health provider and an Eagala-Certified equine specialist. The primary aim of EAP is to address the client's mental health issues by delving into past traumas and patterns that may have disrupted their relationships, trust, communication, and emotional well-being. EAP helps clients develop new coping strategies for trauma triggers, depression, anxiety, and self-esteem challenges, ultimately leading to healthier, more positive connections with others. This is a solution-focused modality.

"My children so enjoyed this Life Skills Program. They were able to practice a variety of essential skills in an engaging environment that kept them fully engaged. In fact, they had so much fun that we had to sign up for another session immediately!"
"My son with Special Needs worked with Janet for a few years before she moved, and we can't say enough positive things about her. Janet has a gift for meeting you where you are and helping you feel comfortable while building confidence and learning life skills. We highly recommend Janet and miss her dearly."
The beauty of this program is so much more than I expected. At 7 years old, my son struggles with an array of learning obstacles and focus issues. Seeing him interact with these powerful, sweet animals and witnessing the connections he is making has been a blessing. He’s opening up. He is being reached. There have been no tears. No frustration. Just the simple love of learning with a friend. Janet meets him where he is and always makes him feel secure and at ease. She is a treasure.
